Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)
Household Hazardous Waste collection events. Normally sponsored by a City or county governments, these events are held for homeowners with hazardous materials like paint, solvents, acids or bases from cleaners, light bulbs (that contain mercury), Smoke detectors (contain Radioactive materials), oils, gasoline or other materials. These are collected periodically to keep them out of the landfills and give homeowners a chance to recycle, reuse or at least properly dispose of these materials.
